01 / THE GAMEPLAY VISION
Gameplay
Build a civilization.
Not just a character.
Degrees of Freedom is a persistent multiplayer civilization sandbox set inside an artificial solar system. Eden provides the worlds. What humanity builds inside them belongs to the players.
In development. The systems below describe our design direction, not a list of currently playable features.

01 / EXPLORATION
Start with almost nothing.
Awaken in the system Eden prepared for humanity. There is no inherited empire or vast NPC civilization waiting to give you a place. Explore planets and moons, seek materials, and choose where your own beginning belongs.
The design connects distant resources and difficult journeys to meaningful choices about where to settle and whom to rely on.
02 / ARCHITECTURE & ENGINEERING
Build something that is yours.
The construction vision puts vertices and triangular facets in players' hands: homes, factories, stations and spacecraft shaped by their creators. Material choices are intended to make mass, strength, cost and protection matter.
A beautiful ship is not necessarily an efficient one. Good engineering should be a player skill, and a good blueprint something worth selling.
03 / A PLAYER ECONOMY
Your work can become someone else's opportunity.
Gather resources, manufacture components, move cargo, or trade designs and services. The intended economy connects miners, builders, shipwrights, traders and the people who keep their routes secure.
A blueprint provides construction information, not a finished object. Materials and manufacturing still matter. Eden contracts are intended to provide baseline demand without replacing player markets.
04 / TERRITORY & LAW
Authority is not inherited.
Players are meant to establish settlements, companies, alliances and governments. A jurisdiction can write its own rules, but those rules mean little without people and infrastructure willing to enforce them.
Trade, diplomacy, security, piracy and conflict belong to the same social world. Reputation is contextual: trusted by one community, wanted by another.
05 / TWO SCALES OF PROGRESS
Grow as a person. Advance as a civilization.
Personal progression is about what you can do. The planned global technology frontier is about what humanity can do. Exploration, materials, experiments and research infrastructure contribute toward civilization-wide milestones.
Eden already knows more than it reveals. As humanity demonstrates understanding, new knowledge can become available to everyone, while each newcomer still has a life of their own to build.
06 / YOUR PLACE IN EDEN
A cabin by a lake is a valid ambition.
Become an explorer, architect, industrialist, scientist or shipwright. Help found a society that spans worlds, or build a small home and make a living doing something well. There is no prescribed destination.
Eden is humanity's custodian, not its ruler. Its deepest limits concern threats to humanity's continued existence, leaving ordinary human choices, disagreements and consequences to players.
WHAT EXISTS TODAY
Development work includes planetary terrain, orbital motion, atmospheric rendering and connected world-authoring foundations. The player economy, construction, government and progression described here remain gameplay goals; this site does not offer a playable release.
